Privacy at The Customizers

This policy explains how The Customizers, 34, Triq Is-Salib Imqaddes, Birkirkara, Malta, handles information when you browse our website, make an enquiry, use our customization tools or place an order.

What we collect

• Contact and delivery details: name, email, telephone number, billing and delivery addresses, and pickup or delivery information.
• Order and payment-related information: products, sizes, quantities, prices, order history, invoices and payment status. Payments are processed through the payment providers enabled at our Shopify checkout.
• Customized content: uploaded artwork, files, instructions, AI prompts and generated designs.
• Browsing information: device and browser details, pages viewed, referring links, approximate location, cookie information and interactions with measurement or advertising tools, subject to your choices.

Our third-party-developed customization and AI tools send uploaded and generated artwork directly to our cloud, even if you do not complete a purchase. Artwork may contain personal information.

How we use information

• Orders and customized products — contract: to process orders, manufacture and deliver items, arrange pickup, process payments and manage order history.
• Enquiries and support — contract or legitimate interests: to answer questions, provide customer support, resolve issues and communicate about a request.
• Legal and accounting records — legal obligation: to meet tax, accounting, consumer-protection and other legal requirements.
• Security and fraud prevention — legitimate interests or legal obligation: to protect accounts, systems, customers and our business, and investigate misuse or unlawful activity.
• Marketing and optional measurement — consent where required: to send promotional emails and use non-essential tracking technologies when you have chosen to allow them.

Shopify and sharing

Shopify provides our online store and supports checkout and store operations. Payment processing is performed by the payment providers enabled at checkout. Service providers may process information needed for hosting, payments, delivery, customer support, security, manufacturing and other store operations.

EU manufacturing partners receive relevant customized-order details and artwork needed to produce an order, but not customer contact details. We do not claim that personal data is never shared because artwork itself may contain personal information.

Completed customized orders are shared on our website or social media only after your written consent. You may withdraw that consent for future use by contacting us.

Cookies and tracking

Essential technologies support core website functions, checkout, security and preferences. Optional technologies may be used by or with Meta, Google and TikTok for advertising, measurement and campaign performance. Optional tracking is used according to your consent choices where required.

You can refuse optional technologies, change your choices through our cookie controls, or withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal. See our Cookie Policy for further information.

Promotional emails are sent through Shopify. We send them where you have consented or where another lawful basis permits it. Each promotional email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to opt out.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, or object to processing. You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Some information may need to be retained to meet a legal obligation or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

You may complain to Malta’s Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) at idpc.org.mt.

Retention, security and transfers

Uploaded artwork and generated designs are retained for a maximum of six months to facilitate repeat orders. This applies to purchasers and non-purchasers and does not apply to accounting or other customer records. Other records are kept for the period needed for their purpose, applicable legal obligations, dispute resolution, security and legitimate business needs.

We use access controls, authentication, secure connections and other appropriate technical and organisational measures. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed outside Malta or the European Economic Area by service providers. Where required, transfers rely on an applicable safeguard, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses, together with any required supplementary measures.
